Talking points

What would Brexit really mean for the economy?

  • It could cost up to 3 million jobs!!
  • All major economists and the Bank of England oppose it.
  • The FTSE and The Pound have dropped dramatically since Brexit support rose in the polls.
  • The UK currently benefits from trade deals with over 60 countries due to its ties with the EU. These would be incredibly difficult to negotiate alone, as US President Obama said: "we'd have to get to the back of the queue."

Europe is a force for peace and progress!

  • The EU has transformed Europe from centuries of war to 70 years of peace and security.
  • The EU has helped transform 13 former dictatorships into members of the democratic community since 1980.
  • The EU provides half the world’s development aid, playing a critical role in disease elimination, poverty reduction and emergency response.

What about immigration?

  • As Jo Cox said 'Immigration is a legitimate concern, but it’s not a good reason to leave the EU'.
  • There's no indication that immigrants are taking jobs away from British people. Immigrants are either doing high-skilled jobs that grow our economy, or doing low-skilled jobs that Britons don't want to do, boosting the economy and creating more jobs for the rest of us.
  • Leaving wouldn’t automatically reduce migration.
  • Almost all ILLEGAL immigration comes from outside the EU.
