Take the occupation to court
To President Mahmoud Abbas and the Executive Committee of the PLO:
We, the undersigned, having seen the massacres committed against the people of Gaza, are writing to say that the time has come to join the Rome Statute and/or issue a declaration accepting the Court's jurisdiction over crimes committed in Palestinian territory since 1 July 2002. These steps would ensure international justice for victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Palestine and serve as a strong deterrent to the leaders of the occupation. Enough delay!

Occupation forces ignore international law, building illegal settlements, jailing innocent civilians including children, and bombing homes. So far pressure from the US, EU and some Arab governments has caused Palestinian leadership to delay joining the International Criminal Court (ICC), but if we give them a huge a public mandate now we can get them to do it.
Avaaz members in Palestine are calling on Abbas to finally take this step -- let’s join their call by raising a massive outcry from citizens across the region to ensure occupation forces know they aren’t above the law. Click to sign the petition -- when 100,000 people have signed, we'll march to the PLO’s headquarters to deliver our call.
