EU - Protect our health and environment from Monsanto!

To the European Commission and EU Member States:

As citizens around the world we are alarmed that glyphosate is "probably carcinogenic to humans." We call on you to exercise the precautionary principle and immediately suspend approval of glyphosate, present in herbicides like Monsanto’s RoundUp. We request you include the studies in the International Agency for Research on Cancer's report in your current safety assessments, and ensure all reviews are transparent, based on independent studies, and evaluated by independent researchers without conflicts of interest. Until glyphosate can be proven safe, you must ensure people are not exposed to it.

EU - Protect our health and environment from Monsanto!
The final vote is down to the wire -- send an urgent message on the right to let key decision-makers know the world is looking to them to protect our health and environment, and lead the way to safe sustainable food future!

Feel free to use the points below, but it’s always best to use your own words, and remember to be polite and authentic:
  • I am one of over 1.4 million citizens calling on you to vote to suspend glyphosate unless it is proven safe by independent studies.
  • Polls show that two-thirds of Europeans want this chemical banned, and Europe can lead the world on this.
  • Independent UN scientists have assigned glyphosate its second highest carcinogenic rating -- ‘probably causes cancer’, and studies have found it in our blood.
  • Studies have also found that it contributes to producing pesticide-resistant superweeds and destroying biodiversity.
  • Key European countries are listening to independent science and the public, now the whole world is watching.
  • It’s totally possible -- towns worldwide are banning glyphosate, and farmers are already using alternative systems with studies showing gaps in yield compared to industrial agriculture are small and closing.
