Stop the Patriot Act
Right now we can stop surveillance of Americans under the Patriot Act. The domestic spying law, which lets the NSA collect and search all of our phone calling records, is set to expire June 1.

It’s crazy -- the Senate majority leader just scheduled a very unusual vote to extend the law tomorrow, on the Saturday of a holiday weekend, hoping Americans wouldn’t notice. But it’s a close contest, and together we can defeat this overreaching law.

Your phone call right now to these swing-vote Senators sends the message that Americans do not want our government spying on us:

Senator John Boozman (Arkansas): (202) 224-4843
Senator Mike Enzi (Wyoming): (202) 224-3424
Senator Bill Cassidy (Louisiana): (202) 224-5824
Senator Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania): (202) 224-4254
Senator Kelly Ayotte (New Hampshire): (202) 224-3324
Senator Mark Kirk (Illinois): (202) 224-2854

Suggested talking points:
  • I urge the Senator to reject any extension of the Patriot Act, and its authorization of domestic spying on Americans.
  • National security and defense against terrorism are very important, but the Patriot Act goes way overboard in eliminating my privacy. There is no good reason for the National Security Agency to know everyone I’m calling.
  • The USA Freedom Act (an alternative that has been proposed) does include some improvements on the Patriot Act, but still does not go far enough to protect Americans from spying by their own government.
After you call, leave a comment on the right and let us know how it went!
