US Congress & Governors: Welcome refugees
President Obama, Congress, and US Governors:
As people across the US, we call on you to reject the politics of fear being promoted by leaders in state and federal government who are pushing to close our borders to refugees. In the wake of the horrific attacks in Paris and across the Middle East, we understand the heightened focus on security, but those fears are not an excuse to abandon our national principles. This is a nation of immigrants and refugees, and we call on you to keep America’s doors open to those in need, particularly to families fleeing the human tragedy in Syria.

Amidst the largest refugee crisis since WWII, our leaders are falling into the same fear-mongering that sent boatloads of people back to their deaths in Nazi Germany. After the horrific attacks in Paris and across the Middle East, it is clear that the violence in Syria knows no national boundaries. But we're a nation of immigrants and refugees -- every one of us has a story about our ancestors coming to the US, or knows someone who does.
Let’s show our leaders that we won’t let the politics of fear change who we are. Sign and share this petition calling on President Obama and Congress to reject calls to close America to refugees.
